Prepare Students for Back to School
2021 Backpack & School Supply Drive

When 179,000+ students return to ‘brick & mortar’ learning this fall, what tools and resources will they have to start the new school year off strong?

The planning starts now! By participating in the 2021 Backpack & School Supply Drive you will prepare thousands of students for the new year in your own community and throughout Palm Beach County.

Palm Beach County students and teachers need YOU… and here is why:

  • 120,000+ students are living in poverty (based on qualification and participation
in the National School Lunch Program)
  • 67% students rely on schools to provide free/reduced-priced meals
  • $875 – The average amount teachers spend of their own pay to purchase supplies
for students that cannot afford them

Every dollar and pencil counts because every student counts!  Here are simple ways to get involved:

  • Build your fundraising team
  • Host a School Supply Drive
  • Sponsor a Palm Beach County Public School
  • Schedule a Volunteer Day at Red Apple Supplies

By providing essential school supplies for teachers and students, you will create environments where teachers can focus on teaching and students focus on learning.

Will you help support 5,000 students by providing new backpacks filled with essential school supplies for the 2021-2022 school year?

Foundation Board Member Alan Baseman:
Perspective… and a Smile Can Make a
World of Difference

Alan Baseman - Board of Director's Spotlight

“The foundation of our country is built on free, compulsory education; and I believe that if we are going to make it compulsory, we had better make it great, too.”

The smile of a child when they learn something new is inspiring and contagious. When one makes a conscious choice to dedicate one’s time, talent, and treasure to a worthy cause, like public education, the impact effects thousands of children every day.  This is Alan Baseman’s perspective.  Partner, and 17-year professional at Comiter, Singer, Baseman and Braun, LLP, hear what makes him smile.

Thousands of students in The School District of Palm Beach County saw their lives changed drastically as the pandemic became more prevalent. These students were abruptly shifted into distanced learning, removed from their social circles, and left to create an environment at home conducive to a school setting.

What was quickly realized was the lack of tools necessary to make their “school from home” experience run smoothly for a student to succeed.

Boca West Children’s Foundation was one of the first organizations to team up with the Education Foundation’s “Rise to the Challenge” campaign to provide support for digital devices as well as the foundation’s “Kits for Kids” initiative.
