Gift of Literacy Campaign Impact
In November, the community rallied together and participated in the ‘Gift of Literacy’ campaign in response to the reading achievement gap, where, in 2019, 46% of Palm Beach County students were reading below grade level (as measured by their Florida Standards Assessment). The Education Foundation, along with sponsors, donors, community partners and volunteers helped make literacy a community priority so children have access year-round—at home and at schools to a variety of books to help close the gap.
Your generosity provided:
- 1,926 students with books to expand their imaginations and increase their skills
- 169 teachers with bundles of books to share with their classes
- 11 Palm Beach County schools with resources to close the reaching achievement gap
Special thanks to our Community Partners Roots & Wings and the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County Volunteer Center for donating and delivering thousands of books to our schools. A shout out goes to the volunteer teams from The Junior League of the Palm Beaches and Skanska for organizing the materials and help distributing during contact-less teacher shops at Red Apple Supplies.

“When I was given the opportunity to work with the Foundation, I wanted to create more situations where teachers had the resources to take the learning to the next level, especially in the more challenged neighborhoods and schools.
Attend any function or activity of the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County (or the School District, or numerous other charities for that matter) and you are guaranteed to see one thing: A quiet leader, usually in a bow tie, doing whatever is needed to help our teachers, students and schools.
