Birdies for Charity Program

The Birdies for Charity program provides nonprofits with the opportunity to utilize the excitement of The Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches to raise funds for their cause. With no administrative fees, 100% of every donation goes directly to the nonprofit of your choice!

How it Works

DATES: The program runs from October 22, 2024, through February 26, 2025

PLEDGE & GUESS: Donors make pledges by guessing how many birdies will be made by PGA TOUR players during the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches (Feb 27 – Mar 2, 2025). To participate, donors must contribute at least $20 to the charity of their choosing.

GRAND PRIZE: One lucky supporter who correctly guesses the total number of birdies made will win a $25,000 grand prize!

BONUS POOL: The tournament will pledge additional funds to a bonus pool, which will be distributed among participating charities based on their involvement level.

TIEBREAKER: In the event of a tie, a winner will be determined by who most accurately guesses the first tiebreaker question– the total number of balls hit into the water at the Bear Trap (Holes 15, 16 and 17). If there are multiple winners after the first tiebreaker—the tournament will ask additional tiebreaker questions until a grand prize winner is determined.

A birdie is a score of one stroke better than par for any golf hole. Par is the average expected score for any given hole (typically 3, 4, or 5). PGA pros are expected to make between 1,000 – 1,500 birdies during The Classic in the Palm Beaches.

Past Birdie Totals:

2007: 1,116 Birdies  2008: 1,144 Birdies  2009: 1,180 Birdies  2010: 1,181 Birdies  2011: 1,041 Birdies

2012: 1,279 Birdies  2013: 1,244 Birdies  2014: 1,363 Birdies  2015: 1,168 Birdies  2016: 1,246 Birdies

2017: 1,361 Birdies  2018: 1,090 Birdies  2019: 1,320 Birdies  2020: 1,172 Birdies  2021: 1,345 Birdies

2022: 1,262 Birdies  2023: 1,419 Birdies

We are asking donors to pledge at least $20 in order to receive a chance to guess the birdies. The price point is 1 guess for $20, 3 guesses for $50 – so for example, $250 would provide 15 guesses to the donor.

Yes, donors will get an instant receipt if they sign up online highlighting their pledge, with the following statement. “Please accept this acknowledgement as an official receipt in compliance with IRS regulations.
