ANDREA RENDON
Why she joined the Education Foundation’s Young Professionals
For Andrea Rendon, education isn’t just a pathway—it’s a life-changer. “As a former public elementary school teacher and first-generation, low-income college graduate, I know education is critical for changing life’s circumstances,” she shares. “Statistically, it provides a much greater chance of upward mobility than anything else because, oftentimes, to earn, we need to learn. Although success is more complicated and can mean different things for different people, education and knowledge are power. No one can take away what someone’s learned.”
That belief is exactly why she joined the Education Foundation’s Young Professionals: to help level the playing field for students and support the educators who make it possible.
A favorite school memory
Her proudest moment? Earning a full-ride scholarship to the University of Florida, a milestone that reshaped her future. “That changed my life. Go Gators!”

“To earn, we need to learn. Education and knowledge are power.”
Fun fact
There’s a performer behind the professional: “[I] only sing and dance at home right now, but I’ve been involved in the performing arts on and off all my life.”
Day job, same mission
By day, Andrea serves as Marketing & Communications Manager at the Palm Beach County Food Bank, telling stories that mobilize community support for children and families. It’s a natural extension of her belief that when students’ basic needs are met—and classrooms are equipped—kids can focus on learning and thriving.
