Palm Beach Lakes HS Fire Science Academy Anticipates its First Graduate this May

The partnership between business and education is vital to the workforce pipeline. Through a collaborative partnership between the Education Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and the School District of Palm Beach County, the Fire Science Academy was formed at Palm Beach Lakes Community High School in 2018.  Three years later, the school will celebrate its first graduate from the program this May.

Education Foundation of Palm Beach County Receives Florida Lottery Lighting the Way to a Bright Future Grant

The $4,000 grant contribution from the Florida Lottery will fund Raiders Rock the SAT: Growing College Ready in a Virtual World, a pilot program at Glades Central Community High School is providing over four hundred junior and senior students, many of whom will be first generation high school graduates, the opportunity to participate in a rigorous SAT preparation program to increase their skills.

On January 15th, Kelly Smallridge was named Woman of the Year by the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce.  When Kelly’s name was announced, there was a collective celebration, appreciation and admiration in the audience. This latest of her many awards and accolades simply acknowledges what we have all known: Kelly Smallridge is The Woman of the Year for All Years!

Carrier Supports HVAC-R Academy at Royal Palm Beach Community High School to Help Develop the Next Generation of HVAC Professionals

The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, Inc. and the Palm Beach County Schools Department of Choice & Career Options are pleased to announce that Carrier has awarded a 1-year grant in support of Royal Palm Beach Community High School’s Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Academy (HVAC-R).

UnitedHealthcare partners with EFPBC to recognize School District of Palm Beach County Wellness Champions

On Thursday, December 3rd, James J. Moore, UnitedHealthcare Executive and Education Foundation (EFPBC) Board member, joined Carlye Fabrikant with the SDPBC Wellness Taskforce to award the inaugural Monthly Prize for Wellness Excellence to Dr. McKnight, Principal and her team at West Rivera Elementary.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, Inc. and Adopt-A-Family of the Palm Beaches, Inc. have been named as the 2020 Bank of America Neighborhood Builders® awardees for Palm Beach County. The nonprofits were selected for their work in the Palm Beach community addressing issues fundamental to economic mobility, specifically, in helping close achievement gaps in learning, creating positive, measurable change for students, and preventing homelessness for hard-working, low-income families.

In the last few years, “Corporate Social Responsibility” has become a topic for many companies.  They look to “do the right thing” and make an impact in their local community. Committees are formed, task forces assigned…and employee volunteer engagement is encouraged.  For some companies however, Corporate Social Responsibility is nothing new…it is embedded in their very DNA.  U.S. Sugar is one of those companies.

Every now and then, we meet people in whose very DNA is embedded passion…passion for a cause and a desire to make the community better.  Marty Cass is one of those individuals.   For over ten years, he has served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County (EFPBC) as well as serving as Chair of the Development Committee to raise funds to support EFPBC initiatives.  But his commitment to education had a much earlier start.

The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation Awards Grant Supporting Cybersecurity Academy at Santaluces Community High School

The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County, Inc. and the School District of Palm Beach County's Department of Choice and Career Options are pleased to announce that The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation has approved a 3-year grant. This grant will provide start-up funding in support of the Cybersecurity Academy at Santaluces Community High School. The program will focus on creating a diverse student pipeline to enter the program and preparing Cybersecurity Academy students to enter the workforce.  Learn More...

Give the Gift of Literacy for PBC Students

Access to books is one of the greatest contributors to educational equality.  Books have been shown to have a positive relationship with a child's interest in reading, academic and writing performance, and language development.    In 2019, 46% of students in Palm Beach County were reading below grade level as measured by their Florida Standards Assessment (FSA).

Jennifer Ethridge Nominated for Hats Off Nonprofit Award

Jennifer Ethridge, Foundation's Director of Programs & Grants, has been recognized for her outstanding work in Palm Beach County's nonprofit sector with the nomination of Hats Off Nonprofit Professional of the Year, presented  by Nonprofit's First.  The Fourth Annual Hats Off Nonprofit Awards honor Palm Beach County nonprofit organizations, staff and volunteers who are dedicated to the business of doing good in our community.

EDUCATION FOUNDATION RECEIVES NEARLY $300,000 IN MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM FUNDING 

The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County will be awarded $298,636.25 in funding through the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (CFEF) in support of the Education Foundation’s School District Education Foundation Matching Grant Programs.

Champion of Education: Two Men and A Truck

The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County found itself with an incredible donation opportunity by our business partner Office Depot, and needed to way to collect 42 pallets of school supplies.  Within 24 hours, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK ®Palm Beach owners Janelle and Joel Dowley did not hesitate and helped made it happen.

Registration is now open for the 2020 Virtual GoTeach! Classroom Grant Awards.  We will be celebrating innovation in the classroom.  Teachers' own creative ideas will be awarded with grants ranging up to $3,000 for a GoTeach! or GoReach! grant award.
