Champions of Education
The Education Foundation of Palm Beach County is honored to welcome The Breakers as a Champion of Education to support the next generation of leaders here in Palm Beach County. Founded on the coast of Palm Beach in 1896, The Breakers is a family-owned business that has become a pillar of excellence in not only hospitality, but in customer experience and community engagement. When you read about this landmark’s story, you will discover their commitment to social impact. Paul Leone, President and COO states that “As a modern organization employing more than 2,200 people, our sense of social responsibility extends to our team, our environment and our community. From employee wellness and sustainable practices to community enrichment and powerful partnerships, our commitments not only ensure our enduring success, but also contribute to a sense of greater good.”
The Education Foundation’s signature program, Red Apple Supplies, routinely welcomes many dedicated Breakers volunteers to our FREE teacher resource store. The Breakers has noted the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County as one of their Top 10 nonprofit organizations served through the company’s GIVES program. During their time of service, Breakers employees/volunteers have graciously organized donated school supplies, prepared the retail boutique for teacher shops and assisted teachers as they filled their carts with essential tools for their classrooms. We share our gratitude for the commitment of time, talent and treasure made by The Breakers, recognizing that the investment they are making in today’s students will impact the workforce of tomorrow.
We wish The Breakers continued success as they reopen their historic doors to the public on May 22nd.

Program Spotlight
Thank you to The Jim Moran Foundation for donating $100,000 in funding to support the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County’s Leadership and Educator Collaborative program. This program provided professional development and training opportunities in Project Based Learning (PBL) for School District of Palm Beach County educators. Participating educators learned firsthand from experts in the field about the need for innovation in teaching, and PBL opportunities for authentic learning and growth for students. PBL trainings were hosted by Teresa Stoupas, Principal at The Conservatory School @ North Palm Beach, where inquiry and PBL is infused into the school’s daily instruction.
Participating educators were able to tour the school and observe some of the concepts learned to help envision what is possible in education by seeing teachers and students in action at TCS. Funding for this grant also provided necessary materials and supplies to teachers in high-need schools to implement PBL in their own classrooms.
More than 200 teachers, administrators and education community members engaged in three Project-Based Learning inspired professional development training opportunities. Training participants have since gone on to bring these innovative instructional practices to their schools and classrooms, with the program further benefiting nine schools and more than 4,500 students.
We are grateful to the Jim Moran Foundation for their commitment to high-quality public education and so are the many students, teachers, principals and schools positively impacted by their generous support – including Miss Hubbard, a teacher at Northmore Elementary School in West Palm Beach.
